Verbal: This has three types of questions – Sentence correction, Reading comprehension and critical Reasoning. The section consists of 41 questions and lasts 75 minutes.
Quant: This has two types of questions – Problem Solving & data Sufficiency. The section consists of 37 questions and lasts 75 minutes.
The whole test is for 3.5 hours. Through these 3 sections GMAT tests math, English, grammar, logical reasoning and problem solving skills of the test taker. Along with these, GMAT also measures the endurance levels and focusing ability of the test taker.

There is no limit on the number of GMAT attempts. GMAT can be taken any number of times but the gap between two attempts should be atleast 31 calendar days. However, one can give the test only 5 times in a calendar year. (However, we advise not to appear for GMAT several times)
